Notify Your Community About Unexpected Downtime

How will this work?

Hetrixtools, a monitoring service will periodically check (e.g. every 3 minutes) if your Minecraft server is online by pinging its IP. If Hetrixtools doesn’t get a ping back it will send out an alert to your Discord server. You can also configure it to send you SMS messages and emails.

Create an account

  1. Go to https://hetrixtools.com/
  2. Click the button that says “FREE SIGNUP” in the top right corner, and enter your account details

Set up monitoring

  1. Click the button that says “Tools” in the top toolbar, and from the dropdown select “Uptime Monitors”.
  2. Now click the “Add Monitor” button from the top right corner of the uptime monitors page.
  3. Select “Ping/Service Monitor”, and enter your servers IP and Port in the assigned fields.
  4. Choose locations that Hetrixtools will ping your server from, and press “Add Monitor”.

Get Notifications: Creating a webhook

  1. Go to your Discord servers settings, and under apps click the button named “Integrations”.
  2. Click “New Webhook”, give the webhook a name, and select a channel for the webhook to send messages to.
  3. Copy the webhook URL by clicking the “Copy Webhook URL” button.

Get Notifications: Linking your webhook

  1. Log in to your Hetrixtools dashboard (https://hetrixtools.com/)
  2. In the top right corner click on your name, and from the dropdown select the “Contact Lists” option.
  3. Click the pencil beside the default contact on the contact lists page to edit where messages are sent.
  4. Go down to the “Slack / Discord / Mattermost / RocketChat” titlebar, then click it to expand.
  5. Enter your webhook URL into the assigned field, and channel name (e.g. #notifications if applicable), and you’re done.
